On Saturday 9th December, six of our committee members (Fiona, Les, Linda, Jennifer, Marie & Steph) headed to Scottish SPCA’s Dundee centre to drop off approximately £300 worth of donations, generously donated by our fantastic members and the Scottish Ferret Club’s Welfare Fund. The donations included multiple bags of ferret kibble, litter, litter trays, bottles of ferret oil, water bottles, blankets, harnesses, toys & beds.
Shortly after lunchtime, we were welcomed by the Centre Assistant Manager, Dale Christie and two very friendly Albino ferrets named Charles and Darwin. Dale explained that the ferrets had been found only a few days earlier after being left abandoned in a hutch. Luckily the landlord of the property found the ferrets before they came to any harm.
We managed to gain the club some publicity with Dundee’s Evening Telegraph coming along to hear more about the Scottish Ferret Club, the donation that the club were making with a photo being published in the Evening Telegraph on Tuesday.
Dale gave the committee members the opportunity to tour the centre and see all of the fantastic work that goes on in the centre. Dale and the Scottish SPCA were shocked, albeit very gracious, for the size of donation and extended an invitation to the Scottish Ferret Club to attend the Scottish SPCA Open Day next year (Date TBC, approximately 12th-13th May 2018).
As for Charles and Darwin, they were adopted on Saturday by our very own Marie who fell in love with them at first sight!
We hope that this is the beginning of a great working relationship with the Scottish SPCA as we look to the future. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every member who has made this possible – your generosity is greatly appreciated by the club and the Scottish SPCA.
